Jacob Richmans 2008 CJI Salary Survey Results Now Available
Jacob Richman's 2008 CJI Salary Survey Results Now Available 1 Jacob Richman's 13th annual Computer Jobs in Israel (CJI) salary survey results are in. What's the state of pay in Israeli hitech? Let's take a look. Dare to compare To ease the comparison with earlier years and 2007 in particular, I've extended the Google spreadsheet created for last year's analysis by adding in the 2008 results compiled by Jacob Richman. The new spreadsheet now covers the survey's responses from 2006-2008. Open it in a separate window as you read. Do these numbers matter? The 2008 survey had 743 responses versus 865 in 2007, a drop of 122. Those are good sample sizes for general questions such as how many people have company cars (52% in 2008, 2% increase) but most of the included professions only had between 10 and 20 answers with regards to the salary numbers, statistically meaningless. However, when comparing the breakdowns by mother tongue, we can see that 102 fewer Russian speakers responded to the survey in 2008 although most of the other language group sizes stayed roughly the same. From this we understand that in all likelihood, the vast majority of 2008 responses came from people who also responded in 2007. The breakdowns by âCity your work inâ seem to support this assumption.eval If that's the case, then most of the raises/decreases in pay were for the same people and should give us an idea of real changes that happened in the industry. Just like last year, it's also possible to cross-compare with a site like Check Compare if you have a specific position in mind. Results of interest Overall, salaries increased approximately 4% â" same as in 2006-2007 â" but the Israeli Consumer Price Index increased by over 3% for the same period, pretty much wiping out the effects of that salary increase.eval Other significant notes 77% of hitech workers are male, seen both in 2007 and 2008 Around 85% of hitech workers have a college degree Roughly 50% of workers have a Computer Science of Computer Engineering degree (this high number is probably due to the nature of the CJI mailing list) Over 90% do not work more than 5 days a week, contrary to the impression given by the Jerusalem Post Astonishing 92% like their jobs A good year? Good, but not great. Israel's hitech employees are largely satisfied with their situation even if there was no major improvement on the average. I personally know a number of people who entered the industry without too much difficulty, another good indicator that there are jobs out there. If you're curious about past years, check the CJI Salary Survey archives. Like analysis?

Using Appropriate Resume Writing Lauguage
Using Appropriate Resume Writing LauguageThe writing of a resume is normally done by using the different formats that can be applied to it. For a professional to do well in this task, he or she must be able to analyze the various formats that are available and choose the most suitable one to suit the document. You can effectively use this process to your advantage if you have chosen the right resume writing help.Lauguage is actually a set of rules to apply when writing a resume. In order to write your resume, you should make sure that it is appealing to the reader. Many times, you find that resume writers will usually use a certain style and syntax that are often more appealing to the reader and thus get them to read the document more. One of the best resume writing lauguages that you can utilize is to include the name of the company or the person whom you are writing your resume for. This is because it is only with this that you will be able to write your resume with confidence. The language can be extremely effective if you know how to effectively employ it.With the help of language, you'll need to have a few key elements in order to be successful. These include the right formatting of your text, punctuation, and grammar. You should also include an introduction to your resume as well as your contact information. The next step in order to make sure that you write the right resume is to avoid any grammatical mistakes. This can only be done if you know how to do a good job at editing the document. There are actually several ways that you can ensure that your resume does not contain grammatical errors.Keep in mind that the document should be separated. You can use paragraph breaks, which is quite easy to do. The next thing that you should do is to ensure that the letter head is properly included. When writing your resume, you'll need to consider its title. While the actual resume can be written anywhere, the title of the document should always be set in order to ass ist the reader in knowing where they are supposed to go. Always remember that the title is the first thing that the reader will see. Finally, the overall language that you should have is going to depend on the resume itself. As such, it is important that you focus on the information and the substance that you have to relay in your own particular case. Writing a resume is something that should be performed with utmost care.

Get Your Exquisite Pearls On In Just Your Style
Get Your Exquisite Pearls On In Just Your Style Big white beautiful pearls around the neck would be any womanâs dream if we go even a 100 year back in time or if you ask around any woman from today. If you ask your grandma about jewelry fashion and trends of her time then a necklace or bracelet made of pearls only would be among the top. Same is the case today, Pearls are among the top fashion trends today as they were back in time. The pearl fashion trend unlike other trends that lives on through a certain phase of time and then slowly dies away to make way for the upcoming trend doesnât seem to fade away although being a fashion trend for hundreds of years. Today everyone who seems to afford it get their hands on the purest and oldest pearl they. From former first lady Michelle Obama who would often be seen wearing a pearl necklace to English royalty Kate Middleton who wears a pair of elegant pearl earrings to movie stars including Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightly and Katy Perry, no one seems to get enough of these exquisitepearls. But itâs not the rich who are the only one who are playing part in prolonging the trend of pearls but other women from different classes as well as the prices of pearl jewelry are in various ranges. These beautiful pearls once put on creates a modern yet a classy look. The classic pearls with its simplicity and style compliments the complexion of the wearing it. Another trick to this trend is that while in the older days, it would be the mature and older ladies who would be seen rocking pearl jewelry but it seems to have been reversed as not the younger generation can be seeing rocking this trend. Pearl Jewelry does the following: Reflects elegance Flatters oneâs complexion The liveliness of the pearls captures oneâs face light. Pearls represent purity and power Symbolizes wealth The fashion of wealth has evolved in its own way. In the older days, a grandmother would give pearls to her granddaughter as a trophy to appreciate her and let her know that she was proud of her. Although it was also used in the sense of fashion too. Now it has become a complete fashion statement. Pearls before were presented as pearls only since they are naturally ready without the need to cut or polish them. Now pearls are mixed with other elements as well like gold, white gold, silver and platinum. New designs are introduced every day with different combination of pearl with other eye-catching elements. With these combinations, the young women of today are not only restricted to the classic pearl jewelry mostly with a single strand. Brands including Tiffany Co. and Dior are the frontrunners of these beautiful combinations. Pearls will never go out of style. They will always remain in fashion. They represented elegance and grace and they will. Just like renown fashion and lifestyle blogger Erin Morris says that pearls will always be in fashion as it has remained from the times of Queen Elizbeth to the times of Barbara bush to Michelle Obama to Madonna. Pearls used for fashion also symbolizes wealth, virtue and power.

The Trauma of Unemployment - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
The Trauma of Unemployment - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career The emotional stress associated with unemployment is understood only by those who are unemployed. Often, even people closely associated with the unemployed such as spouses or other family members donât fathom the emotional pressure and pain that settles in on those without sources of income and places to go to called work. Unfortunately, some jobless people stay in transition for a long time. Today the main reason is usually the current economic condition, but it isnât the reason all the time. In fact, some people get quickly transplanted into new jobs, but others get held back due to their lack of a solid plan and inability to make decisions. Have you noticed that some people procrastinate decision making and agonize even over the simplest kinds of decisions? For example, some people take forever to make a menu choice in a restaurant, while others wait impatiently for the last person to decide. Or, maybe you had a boss who couldnât make even ordinary decisions and who constantly maneuvered just to avoid the need to make the decision? There are reasons that such phenomena exist and Iâm certainly not competent to attempt to provide those reasons, but through my work as a career coach I see such indecision at times with my clients. So, how can a career coach help with such issues? Well, itâs not the job of the career coach to conduct a session like a psychologist would. And sometimes even psychologists donât know how to or neither prepared nor qualified to. A career coach, though, can at least help narrow down the choices and assist in the decision-making process by, say, guiding clients to the right personality assessment tests, or by listening carefully to clientsâ affinities or certain successes from the past, or, if appropriate, by guiding clients to other recommended professionals with advanced degrees like Ph.D.âs who are expert in counseling regarding career, job search, and workplace issues. Honestly, most people donât know what they want in terms of a job unless they see it in context. People canât predict the advantages and disadvantages of a profession or a job unless they can somehow identify with it. Perhaps a friend or someone else can tell them the good, the bad, and the ugly about it. And even in that case, the future is highly unpredictable. Iâm sure that at one time or another, you asked someone for an opinion of the company the person worked at. And Iâm equally sure you received an answer. But was that answer a valid one? Or was it only that personâs opinion about the boss? Certainly, if the boss treats us nicely, weâll say the entire company is great! And if the opposite is true, the entire company stinks! Everythingâs always relative, isnât it. Does this topic ring a bell? What are your stories? Feel free to comment.

4 Secrets I Learned From A Job Search Networking Event - Cubicle Chic
4 Secrets I Learned From A Job Search Networking Event - Cubicle Chic 4 Secrets I Learned From A Job Search Networking Event Career design, Job search July 15, 2016 0 CommentsEver since I went to PoshFest 2015 last year with no entourage and ended up making a bunch of lasting friendships, I feel like Iâve conquered networking, the fear of talking to successful, possibly intimidating, people doesnât deter me from making connections anymore. So when I saw that Career Contessa was having this âInterview Doâs and Donâtsâ net working event, I signed up without thinking twice.P.S. A side note about Career Contessa in case you didnât know about them. Think professional career focused Refinery29 customized for professional women, and with insight and guidance like ones seen on Glassdoor.com and Salary.com. The Career Contessa company tagline is ââA career resource for women who want more and are daring enough to get it.â Iâve been a Career Contessa reader since early 2015 and their content has become SO insightful and so in-depth. My recent favorite is a article on salary growth of a VP i n Marketing and how he/she went from making 45K to 156K in 10 years. Job Search Doâs and Donâts by Career Contessa and Six Degree Society Photo by Kathrina Sio Job Search Doâs and Donâts by Career Contessa and Six Degree Society Photo by Kathrina SioInitially, what attracted me to this event was the impressive line-up of panelist: recruiters from Nasty Gal, Hulu, and Glassdoor dishing out insider information on how interviewers can succeed during job searches. What I didnât know about, was how awesome the âcurated networkingâ which was the work of Six Degree Society, was going to turn out.I am going into the 8th year of my professional career, and Iâve gone to a lot of networking events. I have not gone to one with such nicely established structure for attendees to engage with each other, without awkward games or artificial conversations. I was paired with Amber and Natalie, who both have digital media experience and ambition to do great things in their content creation journey. (I also met Connie, not through the pairing but just good ole networking). Six Degree Society studied carefully the bio I provided and paired me with people who share similar or complementary experience or skill sets as me. My conversation with Amber and Natalie felt naturally engaging and we all learned so much from one another. In fact, I already know there will be collaborations on the horizon with these #girlbosses soon!Besides the free drinks, awesome freebies, and all the socializing, I learned a few things that were pretty surprising (to me at least):1) Treat your recruiter as your best advocate. They want you to succeed almost as much as you do! Be transparent with them, be comfortable with them, and count on them.2) Donât show up too early for an interview. Thirty minutes is too early; try arriving there 15-5 minutes beforehand. If youâre early, chill in your car or a coffee shop.3) Have the salary conversation earlier in the interview process rathe r than later. Do it in a tactful way. You donât always have to reveal your current salary level (my personal opinion is that you should never disclose this info), but this is to make sure your desired salary range matches the companyâs budget.4) Men and women have very different negotiation tactics; men tend to be more fact based in their negotiations, and women tend to list more emotionally based reasons. Whether youâre a man or woman, approach this subject with your worth (based on your experience and public data) and not personal reasons or life circumstances. What are your interview must-doâs and must-not-doâs? If youâre an interviewer, whatâs your biggest pet peeve?

Theres Always Room
Theres Always Room Abundant Thoughts by Jessica Swift It was May 2010. I was a babe in the Woman of the World woods, having left Corporate America less than 2 months earlier. My Internet friend Jess Swift was comin to town for Surtex, and we were planning to meet for the first time ever. I forced myself on her for 3 days because I wanted to help with her show/spent time with her, and I sat with her in that booth for the majority of the time she was there. I watched her talk to potential buyers and fellow artists especially the students who were there to walk the show and saw how she prepared and saw the amazeballs reaction she got from her work when people walked by the booth and connected with the bright colors (to the max!, as her tagline suggests). But there was one exchange that I can still hear in my head, an exchange where when it was over and the girl walked away I turned to Jess and said, Youre one of my favorite people ever. The art student walked up to Jess booth, complimented her work, and asked point-blank: Theres just so much competition here. I mean, the market is so saturated, isnt it? Theres not room for anyone new, right? It just all seems so hard! Ive heard this question before, and a million variations of the same answer: Yup, theres a lot of artists out there, and less than 10% (or some ridiculously low number) make a living from it. Yup, its really hard so hard that you shouldnt do it unless you have to. So I sat up straight and smiled wide when I heard Jess respond, which went something like: Theres always room for someone new. Look, there are over a hundred booths here, but every style is different. Sure, its hard work Im working all the time but theres always space for someones vision, someones art, someones perspective. This is my first year here, and Ive already gotten a wonderful reception. You shouldnt not do this because you think you dont have anything new to offer, or that theres no more room thats absolutely not the case. It was funny, because the girl seemed a bit disappointed by this answer. Jess response was an optimistic, no-nonsense, kick-in-the-butt when this girl looked like she wanted a grim Reality Check so she could go back home to Play It Safe. But Jess doesnt subscribe to that perspective, and when the girl walked away, Jess said to me, Ugh! That makes me so mad! YES, of COURSE theres room for everyone you just have to do the work! Go do the work, dont walk around moping and complaining and looking for a way out! Otherwise, go find something else to do! Seriously. One of my most favorite people ever. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESS! ____________________________________________________ Come join Jess I (as well as the dapper host, Pierre François Frédéric) for the third Declaration of You e-course, cause registration is open as of today! Yay hooray!
